Altrincham is a town in the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford Park and lies at the river Mersey. It is located about 8 miles southwest of Manchester, 3 miles southwest of Sale and 10 miles east of Warrington. Altrincham was established as a market town and a part of Cheshire in 1290. The name Altrincham first appeared in records as “Aldringeham”, which probably meant “homestead of Aldhere’s people”.
